JUST LOOKING, THAT’S ALL
26/12/2004
I’m just looking for you this day that’s all,
Surely there is no harm in that, just looking?
Maybe I will capture you, eye to eye, today
And I will speak to you and when we part
You’ll look back over your shoulder at me
Just once, for once is all that it will take.
Then I will bump into you in the bank
And we will smile and continue to talk
As if we had known each for a lifetime.
That is all that it will take, just a glance.
I am sixty years old on the thirteenth
And I am still looking, looking that’s all.
Looking for outside beauty, that’s true, but
Matched with the ethereal that’s within
That twinkles out of you like pure crystal.
I long for that day so much that it hurts.
I’m just looking that’s all, my agenda
Is all that I am in the verse above.
Did I tell you that I compose verse: no?
That’s something that I forgot to tell you!
Perhaps when we are going out steady
I’ll tell of my poetic condition.
