NEW POEMS ON CD BY PAUL BURA
Featuring also the poems of CHRISTY BROWN.

Christy Brown’s life story was portrayed in the brilliant film: MY LEFT FOOT by Daniel Day-Lewis. Paul Bura and Christy became pen pals, swapping their newly published ‘slim volumes’ of verse, hot off the press. Paul Bura had the idea to record some of Christy’s poems and sent the resulting tape off to him. Much to Paul’s surprise Christy LOVED it, adding: “You’d make Dylan Thomas growl in his grave with envy. Your voice played upon the verses like a well-tuned instrument.” Praise indeed. Christy Brown died soon after, leaving us a huge legacy of genius.

PAUL BURA, in his now characteristic style, narrates new poems and stories with his usual warmth and depth, making his poetry, and that of Christy Brown (now re-recorded) come alive, having a life all their own.

An Hour With Paul Bura (Compact Disc)

"Paul Bura's distinct style of reading and presentation of his poems makes him unique as a reader of his own work. Favourites like THE DRUNK ON THE TRAIN and THE ARCADE CASHIER feature on this album. Bura's poetry has those rare qualities of honesty and artistry. His finest poems are written from the heart and edited by the brain (what?). Bura's centre of experience is so unique that these poems deserve our fullest attention, not only for their deeply moving qualities but also for their craftsmanship."

JOHN RICE - Poet and Storyteller.
Former Literature Officer for South East Arts.

Goodbye Brains (Compact Disc)

Coley (Barry Cole) wrote and arranged all the tracks on this CD apart from THE WEED SONG (which I wrote), he also arranged and wrote the music for THE LADY ON THE OLD BROMPTON ROAD and ENOUGH TO WAKEN THE DEAD of which I wrote the words.

Barry Cole was an outstanding Jazz musician from Kent. He played tenor sax (main instrument), alto sax, clarinet, bass clarinet and flute. He not only wrote jazz arrangements that would blow your head off but also composed the music for Thames TV’s LARRY THE LAMB (which I also provided many of the ‘voices’).

This CD is an example of his superb jazzmanship!
